L’édition 2013 du Roxy Pro Biarritz a croisé le mauvais sort en raison de l’absence totale de houle significative.
Les spots n’ont pas fonctionné du coup c’est un bel évènement organisé par Roxy et les efforts de dizaines de personnes enthousiastes impliquées qui tombent à l’eau. On garde à l’esprit les mérites de la création par Roxy d’un contest essentiel pour le surf féminin international et les compétitrices.
Les mérites du Roxy Pro.
En synthèse, les aspects positifs de l’initiative :
– L’investissement dans l’organisation d’un évènement Majeur sur la scène internationale du Surf.
– Promouvoir la compétition de surf féminin et son développement.
– Réunir l’ensemble des acteurs du secteur.
– Biarritz comme scène d’accueil sur une plage Magique.
– Garder les dates des anciens Festival de Surf ayant fait la renommée des lieux (Pari risqué / Houle)

– 1MOORE : Premier titre Mondial de Carissa Moore (Haw) en 2011.
– 5ème sacre de Stephanie Gilmore le 14 Juillet 2012.
– Discipline Surf Girly mis sur un pied d’estale pendant toute une semaine.
– Rencontres des Pros du World Tour, Sally Fitzgibbons, Tyler Wright, Lakey Peterson, Pauline Ado, Rebecca Woods, Bianca Buitendag, Alana Blanchard, …
– Concerts gratuits « SOSH » sur la plage du centre de Biarritz avec un immense public.

Merci Quiksilver & Roxy
Le Surf a besoin de grands groupes pour continuer de promouvoir la discipline et ces athlètes. Pour conclure, disons le franchement, Quiksilver et Roxy ont le mérite d’investir dans des évènements lorsqu’on considère les coûts qui dépassent maintenant le Million d’Euro (Staff, Stands, Prize Money, ASP, Media, etc…) face aux risques qu’une compétition n’ait pas lieu en raison des conditions météo.
Alors BRAVO a eux, surtout que le pire vient d’arriver, la compétition n’a pas eu lieu en 2013, un océan sans vague et des participantes qui rentrent en avion sans avoir participé, c’est dur mais notre sport ne marche que grâce à une chose réelle de la nature : Les VAGUES.

2013 Edition of Roxy Pro Biarritz met a curse due to a long, long very long lack of significant swell in North Atlantic. All Surfs Spots in South of France didn’t worked this week.
This is a great event organized by Roxy and the efforts of dozens of enthusiastic people involved that fall into the water. Keeping in mind the merits of creating a Roxy contest for international women’s surfing and competing women.
Roxy Pro Merits.
In summary, the positive aspects of the initiative :
– Investment in the organization of a Major event on the international scene Surf.
– Promote women’s surfing competition and development.
– Bring together all stakeholders.
– Biarritz scene as host on a beach Magic.
– Keep dates former Surf Festival has made the place famous (risky gamble / Swell)

Surf needs big companies to continue to promote discipline and athletes. To conclude, let’s be frank, Quiksilver and Roxy have the merit of investing in events when considering the costs now exceed the Million Euro (Staff, Stands, Prize Money, ASP, Media, etc…) face the risk that competition will not take place due to weather conditions.
So CONGRATS to them, especially when the worst has happened, the contest does not take place in 2013, an ocean without waves and participants returning by plane without having participated a heat, it’s hard work but our sport works with a real thing of nature WAVES.
