FR Le Nike US OPEN of Surfing 2012 a été remporté par Lakey Peterson dans la catégorie féminine et Julian Wilson chez les hommes sur la plage d’Huntington en Californie.

A défaut d’épreuve de Surf aux Jeux Olympiques de Londres 2012, un championnat majeur de grande qualité à lieu en Californie.
Milieu de saison 2012 décisif :
Les plus grands noms de l’actualité du Surf vont entrer dans l’arène Californienne en même temps que le début du Round des 96ème de finales : Mick Fanning, Dane Reynolds, ainsi que Kelly Slater le tenant suprême de onze titres de Champion du Monde et tant d’autres tel Jeremy Flores vont se battre dans l’océan Pacifique pour poser son nom sur le trophée du célèbre Open Américain.
Les filles du Tour sont aussi à l’honneur puisque la dernière épreuve du WCT Féminin 2012 a lieu en parallèle de la compétition masculine. Toutefois sans suspense puisque Stephanie Gilmore a déjà été couronnée Championne du Monde ASP 2012 lors du Roxy Pro ayant eu lieu à Biarritz le Samedi 14 Juillet dernier.

Men’s Trials and Women’s Junior Pro Hits The Water On Day 2
Day Two of the 2012 Nike US Open of Surfing began overcast and gloomy, but as the sun broke through mid-day, so did four determined trialists into the Men’s main event. Australian vet Nathan Hedge, Brazil’s Jean Da Silva and Hawaiians Keanu Asing and Torrey Meister all blazed in the final heats of the 32-man trials round, setting up for a stacked draw in the Round of 96. “Felt good to get one under my belt again,” said Nathan Hedge, long-time ASP World Tour surfer who is climbing his way back up the rankings. “The trials today were tough, but it’s what to be expected at the US Open of Surfing.”
